On this day we had Hunter Jim Long call us to hunt again with us at Las Auras but for a Gold Medal Corsican Ram.

I told him you will need to do some walking to get close enough to the Rams. His reply was let do it!

We decided to start the morning with a some predator hunting. Which with all the rains the a fog formed taking away our chances.

As I was driving down the main sendero I saw a group of Catalinas with a huge billy in the mix. One I thought was lost last winter. Easily reaching Gold levels this billy has been hunted several time with him winning of course.

When I picked up Jim from his Blind, we saw several huge bull elks rubbing there velvet. These bulls will easily turn out to be 300 to 400 class bulls.

I spotted a herd of rams in the side of a hill heading for a stock tank on the other side. We saw three rams in the pack of eleven. Those three easily made gold the others where braking gold.

We started the stalk only to get about 70 yards which in the brush several red sheep ewes ran and darted doing about 30 past the tank.

AS we both laughed after being skunked out by the Red Sheep ewes.

We started off again. It took us an hour to find the same herd. This time was different we had everything going in our favor: the wind, sun and most of all a short stalk.

While Jim was in position He took aim drew his bow and the arrow made his mark just above the lungs. As everything took off in all directions we caught up to the ram about 100 yards in the brush. Again Jim took aim and down went the ram.

His Gold Medal Corsican measured at 32 inches great hunt and great ram.

As we headed off Jim's Hunting buddy says that what I want a Corsican. We headed back to re group and place the ram in the freezer due to the fact that it was 10 in the morning and the temperature was 95.

We headed of to the back pasture where I had seen several brush rams in the mix. There I saw several aoudad looking from 70 or 80 yards at us in a small clearing. With a small billy over seeing point.

While driving I spotted the herd which was moving fast through the brush. I cut the senderos and the herd broke in front of us about 30 yards. As we stopped we took the shot again right above the lung which made the ram dart in the creek. I saw the ram in behind a mesquite, I told to get a better shot from around the chaparros, which he did and this time the arrow made its mark.
