Young Guns
The following is a story on
the passing hunting to the young guns Alberto Martinez IV and Rick Flores
Jr. The following
two young hunters showed superior shooting skills.
We started off from Laredo Texas on a 105 degree weather and when we arrived in Crystal City we were in a thunderstorm. A big difference in weather which made the heat go simmer down. We decided to take a drive around the ranch to see what we saw. Quickly around the corner we saw several lechewe run into the brush and to bison which gave us a quick rumbling to show us who's Boss on the Ranch. After seeing several rams
and a group of ibex , we spotted a good Corsican Ram with a good beard ,
mane and with great base of the horns.
Since darkness had fallen we decided to hunt for young Alberto's ram in the morning. It rained during the night which kept the heat down during the morning hours. We saw several groups of rams with good horns. As well as a herd of Mouflons which buggered on us after a long stalk. While driving back to the camp we saw three good rams two Corsicans and a huge Texas Dall. Alberto (pollo) Martinez
and son got ready to take a shot.
Both of these young hunters realized that patience leads to well placed shots which will bring down animals with in yards of the first shot. Stalking the brush rams is an ultimate Hunt for those who like patience in hunting as well as a hunt that has a constant activity. Since you will stalk the rams from anywhere of 20 minutes to well over 2 hours. Again this was an excellent hunt, seeing the hunting passed on to youngsters that care about game, nature and the spirit of hunting.

We
decided to start stalking the ram. He gave us a great hunt by evading us
several times and finally Ricky Flores kneeled and gave the ram a
great shot which brought it down sixty yards. His shot broke the left leg
and shattered the heart. A great shot it was the ram ran a folded over.

Pollito
was on point since he shot the Corsican ram straight in the heart and
dropped ten yards away. A great heart shot of fifty yards.
