Hot days bring out a 109 Ram!

After Murphy's Law was commencing again this week, we had two great hunters from Prescott Arizona.  A Father and Son Team ( Bryon & Ty Goswick) who where looking for Boars and Four Horn's.  We started of with a good first day spotting several good  Brush Rams, with very good Gold medal class Corsican Ram which Ty said I am after a four horn.

We started of early in the morning to get a good start before dawn started the Sun onto another 100 plus degree day.  After I pick each one up at the blind the emotions of I saw two coyotes, several large rams, some buffalo and hogs.

Tai quickly says ,"I can not wait toe see those four horns." As we drove the senderos tai noticed a white spot between the brush across the pond. As we walked I realized that those were the four horns on the other side of the pond around 400 yards or so from us on the opposite side.

We glassed the rams and decided that the brown Four Horn was the best and should go after it. we stalked quietly to a good shooting range and  sat below some Retama trees since the sun was on us.

As we waited for a good shot , we counted six Lechewe Cows , several Sika does with fawns and several axis who all had gotten wind of us.

About 40 minutes had passed and out from the grass our golden boy stood up and stomped towards us. Tai waited for a good shot when ,bawl shot out next to me and the four horn took several steps and dropped. tai made a great shot to the heart that felled his Gold Medal Four Horn Ram.

After that shot I was seeing a very content young man, who has the patience of  a good hunter I realized why I guide and opened the doors to Las Auras Ranch. We headed off to lunch to return later for some more hunting.

The evening was approaching and 6pm rolled around at 105 degrees with a full sun blazing . I decide to drive the senderos to get a feel for what dusk would bring. During our drive we saw several Nubian Ibexes , a good Catalina herd  and around twenty Mouflons sporting good racks. When we saw several hogs start rooting the middle of the sendero .

We decided that a big boar which was in the back was the one we would take. We waited there for well over an hour and  a half. Every chance that we had in taken the boar we were interrupted by Bison fighting, Fallow in the line of sight , and elk who scurried off everything in its range.

Finally our chance was made and the boar stepped in the wrong direction. Ty's shot caught him square in the heart after a few rolls the boar ran off into the brush for about twenty yards. That 308 did its job again.

We decided that after dark that we would try to call in coyotes. Since Bryan had seen two in the morning. I brought out the call and with in fifteen minutes. We were surrounded by yelps and barks from all around. They were clearly on the other property and the brush was to thick. As fast as they starting barking it stopped.

Nonetheless, this was a memorable hunt, with a father and son hunting team. Bryon is a guide and outfitter himself in Arizona. His Specialty is Cougar, Elk, Cous Deer and Mule Deer. Knowing the type of hunter Bryon is, his patience an keen eye will definitely get you an Arizona Trophy that you will be proud off.  Those who would care to hunt for Elk, Cous Deer Mountain Lion or Mule Deer I suggest you to go with Goswick Outfitters. click here
