Hunting Corsican Rams

RAIN ???

What started out with a cloudy over cast day with rain in the mist, was actually a memorable hunt. Looking for Corsican, Black Hawaiian, Texas Dall, Painted Desert and Boar Hogs. Sitting in several stands we knew on Friday evening, waiting for boars to cross the senderos. The hogs were out that evening, due to the numbers that were tallied at the the end of the night (150).

We talked a bit and understood that rain was in the forecast and still we went out to hunt. Hunting is hunting, and with that a hunter needs to understand weather, misses, Types of game, Having a good time and above all safety. The day started out great with Mr. Cutt bring down a gold medal Texas Dall Ram. After the stalk that end up with a great trophy, we both stated how tough the rams are. even with a perfect shot to the kill zone the Texas Dall would not give out.

Driving a bit we saw several rams and two good Corsican rams. Tim Cutts decided that there was the Corsican Ram that he wanted. With a great 125 yard shot that dropped the ram. Tim had quickly harvested his Silver Medal Ram.

After seeing several rams, Bill saw a Black Hawaiian Ram that he fancied. We started after the ram, stalking it for thirty minutes. After a long waiting game Bill took the opportunity and shot the ram. The Black Hawaiian Ram ran for 30 yards and dropped. It is just incredible how tough this rams are with a shot placed by a .270 in the heart, it still ran for forty yards.

After taking a quick break we headed for the sendero where we saw a group of Corsican Ram Worth taken. As we all wondered when the rain was going to hit . We came across a herd of 10 good rams. In the middle left of the herd was a wide corkscrewing Corsican . After deciding to go after that Ram , we stalked it for well over two hours. While stalking the Ram we scared an Aoudad that was at least 30 inches, who I nearly stepped on. The trouble of taking caution over twigs had ended with a good shot to a great Corsican Ram.

While riding back to camp we decided to run back to herd we had past by. Since we had seen a very good Corsican Ram in the mix. We quickly headed and we started a stalk that last twenty minutes. We a great shot to the heart the Corsican Ram fell in its tracks. Frank knew exactly what ram he wanted on a quick paced stalk. He fired And down went the Corsican Ram.

As soon as we drove to the camp the rain started, we all looked at each other and started laughing. the Hunt turned out great with all the Rams making the records: Two Gold Medal Rams, and three Silver Medal Rams.
